On his first day of orientation, Pat had the entire freshmen class laughing as he pranced around the stage acting like a hyper-active cheerleader to take first prize in a group-skit competition. His antics have only gotten funnier and more recognized. Pat is known as the “wacky asian force to be reckoned” with in Mask & Wig. Like most Penn students, Pat has gotten swept up in the health-craze and has of lately been frequently spotted in the “Thigh, Glute and Abs” class at Pottruck. He has a fondness for penguin outfits, twister, and beatboxing – and also brings in extra cash as a male stripper (hint: post on his Facebook wall for hiring information). He also just turned 20 a few days ago! On a more serious note, he is a Thai southerner from Douglas, Georgia and also a member of the Student Federal Credit Union (SFCU). Ultimately, Pat is just a bundle of fun with a very square head.

March 26 - POW

Who is… Who is the Pick of the Week for March 26th, born in H-town (aka Houston, Texas), no not Mike Jones (Who then?), the man they call William Lehner. He truly is one of a kind. Always seen with a beard, the habitual scruff covering his face hides his pale skin, which Lehner neglected to tan during his recent “adventure” (possibly more fittingly referred to as a boozathon) to Cabo Wabo, Mexico. Academically, he excels in Wharton as a Finance and Accounting concentration. His mental capacity extends beyond the classroom, however as he can beat solitaire in a record time of 31 seconds. He's also a whiz at Jeopardy, knowing odd facts such as the probability of him being with another girl as hot his current girlfriend. However, despite his innate intelligence, great personality and charming good looks, his friends often mention that William’s humble attitude is his greatest attribute. He doesn’t let anything get to his head. Whatever is said about him, Will Lehner is an inspiration to all, and a great representative of Penn's class of '09. In the words of the the great Mike Jones, “Back then they didn’t want him, now he’s hot they all on him!”

The class board would also like to commend you for representing Penn 09 abroad with such awesome sunglasses.

Pick of the Week: March 14

It's a pirate woman, it's Dorothy from Wizard of Oz , it's a renaissance maid, oh no wait... it's Jackie Backer, our Pick of the Week for March 12. The only thing that isn't unusual about Jackie is her name (statistics show 1 in every 4 female Penn students are named Jackie). Other than that, she is known for her eccentric, cutting-edge style and laid back attitude, a breath of fresh air within Penn's sometimes homogenous student population. Never seen wearing the exact same thing twice, she always finds a way to reinvent her look- making "costumes and head dresses" an everyday occurrence. It comes as no surprise that she is a visual studies major who has a passion for fashion - she is frequently found perusing the pages of various fashion magazines in the Penn bookstore. She comes to Penn from the swamplands of Florida and loves to frequent happy hour at the Chili's bar.

Pick of Week: February 19th

Our Pick of the Week for February 19th is Lauren Amster – also known by her friends as “The Hamster.” Although not a blonde, coming from Los Angeles makes her a bit of an anomaly within the SDT sorority – one of the few girls not from Long Island. That said, as far as the entire Penn community, she is just one of the many that Brentwood high school includes on their Penn matriculation list. She is PreMed studying economics in the College. If you considering clubbing with sweaty Italian men and sipping red wine paired with a nice Pecorino cheese to be studying, then Lauren spent this past summer making straight As while taking classes through Penn Summer Abroad in Italy. Hopelessly single, yet certainly a catch, she has resorted to looking for “Random Play” according to her Facebook profile (guys take a hint). For those interested in Lauren, she enjoys long walks on the beach, very large dogs, and conversations that revolve around herself. Friends say Lauren is always smiling, happy and ready to have a good time!

Feb. 14 - Pick of the Week: Jess Staller

In honor of Valentine's Day, we've decided to honor one of our cutest sophomores as our Pick of the Week. Why, you might ask? Because he is seen cuddling so often with this week's ACTUAL Pick of the Week – Clayton J. Lechleiter – that distinguishing one from the other would be almost sacrilegious.

Our friend, Clay is seen as saintly among his peers: with an awe-inspiring influx of nominations from his brethren at that bastion of whale-patterned shorts on Locust Walk – more commonly known as St. A's, A's, or just the Hall – it was hard to turn him down. But while navigating the madras jungle, one can easily find Clay's smiling face as he fearlessly solves any quantitative challenge that he may encounter. He is a Wharton/College crossbreed studying finance, economics, and accounting who is interested in "The Information Age" and keeping updated with the news.

But let's get back to Clay- a conservatively dressed straightforward gentleman; he and his cheery smile are hard to miss. His sunglasses never fall off thanks to his croakies ®. He is a man of egalitarian virtue that upholds the inalienable of right of every man, woman, and child to wear khaki. Dan Kodner, writes, "Clay is dedicated, hard working, and handsome." We couldn't have put it any better.Congratulations Clay. Keep up the good work.

Pick of the Week: January 29

One word describes Kristin A. Brinkley: dedication. As an active member of the Penn community, Kristin has shown some serious motivation to better our lives at Penn. As far as we can tell, unless she is just looking to build a résumé, she loves Penn and it shows through all the organizations she has joined! She serves as a senator of Harnwell College House in addition to being the editor of The Vision magazine, an undergraduate mentor with the Pre-Law program, member of the Nominations & Elections Committee (NEC), and finally a voice on the New Spirit of Penn Gospel choir. Multi-tasking and time management are her greatest skills! Kristin is in the college, studying communications, English and Spanish. She is from Maryland and proud of it, her friends say she constantly reminds them of her southern heritage and that she isn’t a “YANKEE!”

Erik Ronzone, college ’09, writes, “She's a great person and, more importantly, a great friend. When she's not working hard at mentoring freshmen or overseeing the activities of her college house, she's hanging out with her friends talking about anything from parties to school to current events. She is the type of student others look to in times of adversity."

Congratulations Kristin on being the Pick of the Week for January 29, 2007!

Jan. 21 - Pick of the Week - Jamie McCarthy

Flowing blonde hair and a Stretch Armstrong physique is the best way to characterize Jamie McCarthy (legally: Philip J. McCarthy IV), our current POW – Pick of the Week. From just around the corner in Wyndmoor, PA (population: 5,601) – Jamie is a laid back, small town boy. A M&Ter and also a member of the illustrious Mask & Wig crew, he is known for his constant smile – a perfect façade for his friendly and fun loving demeanor. Tagged in 175 photos (of which 167 are tagged by others) and consistently keeping the campus updated through Facebook, Jamie is a popular fellow around campus. His current status? “Jamie is getting ready for the Mask & Wig show – Troy Story.” Since he is always on the move, he stays energized with his daily filling of mac and cheese out of a red Solo cup. His fellow cast mate Ruben Henriquez writes of Jamie, “If you are one of the people lucky enough to really get to know this wonder, you will realize that he is a genius of common sense, an immensely talented violin and trombone player, one hell of a dancer, and a man with an affinity for redheaded Arts House Dance Company Seniors.”

Come see him and the rest of the Mask and Wig cast in their 119th annual production Troy Story: You Odyssey it to Believe it running every Friday and Saturday from January 26 to March 30!

Andrea Marie Colette Biernat

Being selected for our first pick of the week is a big deal - well Andrea Marie Colette Biernat IS A BIG DEAL!
